Corinthia M Yancey- Running for Mayor of Reno
Prioritizing community over politics, my mission for Reno is built on years of advocacy and active service. I offer a fresh, professional perspective on city leadership, utilizing extensive experience in complex operations and small business support to ensure our government remains transparent and accountable to all citizens.
I am Corinthia M. Yancey, and my dedication to Reno stems from a lifetime of service and deep respect for our community. Raised in a family of veterans and educators, I learned early that effective leadership demands discipline, integrity, and the courage to take decisive action. I carry the legacy of my great-grandmother, a tireless advocate who taught me that a city's strength is defined by its support for the most vulnerable. This heritage of service drives my commitment to ensuring every resident is heard and protected. Unlike career politicians, my professional background lies in results-oriented management where accountability is paramount. Having managed complex operations, safety protocols, and local entrepreneur initiatives, I offer a unique perspective on the critical challenges our city faces today. I am running for Mayor to bring this executive expertise to City Hall, fostering a government that is transparent, professional, and efficient. I believe in putting people before politics and implementing practical solutions for public safety, housing affordability, and sustainable economic growth. Together, we can build a more secure and prosperous Reno, creating a future where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive in a city we are all proud to call home.
My career is defined by advancing public safety, operational excellence, and civic impact.
These roles prioritized the safety and accountability required for thousands of daily commuters. As a licensed Nevada business owner with FEMA and OSHA emergency management certifications, I combine legal studies with business insight to advocate for policies that drive growth and community sustainability.
My leadership is forged through navigating real-world challenges with resilience. Having faced housing and workplace hurdles firsthand, I have stood up for my rights and successfully held systems accountable. These experiences provide me with a profound understanding of how local policy directly impacts families. My dedication to fairness and transparency is unwavering. After witnessing barriers to opportunity, I chose to advocate for a system that empowers everyone equally. Furthermore, after navigating a personal tragedy involving the medical system, I became a tireless advocate for care standards and institutional integrity. I am running for Mayor to ensure Reno's systems consistently prioritize and protect the people they serve.
I am committed to empowering residents through open communication and civic education. These core pillars provide a roadmap for a resilient Reno where every voice is truly valued:
My aunt, Karen Simmons, paved the way as a proven leader. She taught me to stand for those who cannot and to guide a community that holds our world together. Her path demonstrated greatness and showed me that faith without strength is lost in a community that depends on courageous leadership to move forward.
My grandparents’ mission for our family was to rise above disadvantage. To me, community is about the people and places that come together to build an inclusive, extended local family.
I bring an objective, unbiased perspective focused on the community's best interests, free from insider politics or long-standing alliances. My vision is to: Strengthen public safety through accountable leadership. Support small businesses and expand economic opportunity. Address housing and infrastructure with sustainable solutions. Advocate for job stability and workforce development.
